Mr Rob Walker PhD FRCS
I am a Consultant Upper GI and Robotic Surgeon at the Royal Surrey in Guildford. I specialise in surgery of the oesophagus and stomach, and I offer keyhole (laparoscopic and robotic) hernia repairs, gallbladder surgery and anti-reflux procedures. I also carry out diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. My aim is simple: explain things clearly, reduce worry, and help you get back to feeling like yourself.
I comlpeted a PhD in oesophageal cancer. My research looked closely at how this cancer behaves at the level of individual cells, funded by grants from the Royal College of Surgeons and Cancer Research UK. I then completed a minimally invasive oesophago-gastric surgery fellowship at St Thomas’.
Whenever it’s safe to do so, I use keyhole approaches to support a smoother recovery, and I’ll always take the time to talk through your options so we can choose the right plan together.
I trained at the University of Leicester and joined the Army during medical school. In 2009 I served in Helmand, Afghanistan, as a doctor supporting the Afghan National Army, and later supported vaccination clinics in remote parts of Kenya. Back in the UK I was a Military Surgical Fellow at The Royal London, gaining major-trauma experience, before completing core and higher surgical training in East London and across the Wessex region.
Outside of his medical practice, Mr. Walker lives with his wife and three daughters
